The production of eggs and sperm

Female’s eggs and male’s sperm play a crucial role in pregnancy. A female’s reproductive system produces eggs in the ovaries. And a male’s reproductive system produces sperm in testicles.

Fertilization

During sexual intercourse, man’s sperm is released into the uterus of the woman. The life of this sperm is said to be five to six days. If this sperm fertilizes the egg by penetrating the egg, pregnancy takes place.

During ovulation, usually the one of the ovaries releases an egg. This egg then travels through the fallopian tube. Usually the egg is fertilized by sperm in the fallopian tube. Then, it travels to the uterus, and its implantation in the endometrium takes place. It turns into a baby in the uterus, and when the pregnancy reaches its full term, delivery of the baby takes place.

But this natural process can be obstructed due to some issues; as a result, infertility may take place.
